The ABC of Contact Improvisation
Third floor 114 Rue de Ménilmontant 75020 Paris
Saturday 21 January
3 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Taught by Juliet Shelley

In this workshop, Juliet will teach the classic contact improvisation techniques and forms that lay the foundation for contact dance practice, as originally passed on to her by Nancy Stark Smith and Steve Paxton. These skills work to create and build a movement vocabulary that is fundamental to dancing contact improvisation safely, easily and confidently. The workshop is for dancers of all levels.
The skills taught in this workshop are an enjoyable and fun way for intermediate or advanced dancers to get back to some basics and will provide an essential foundation for less experienced dancers to practice this form.
The deadline for registration and payment is Friday January 20.  Register and pay before Friday January 13 and receive €10 off the price of the workshop. This discount will be applied at checkout when you enter 'Earlybird10' when paying on this site.

“Her teaching style is inspiring and her depth of knowledge is extraordinary.' Damian Manu
“I learned contact improvisation with Juliet in 2003 or 2004. She was a great teacher, really supportive, welcoming and fun. Her classes really widened my field of consciousness in the 5 senses. She's good at helping people feel comfortable moving with their bodies.' Cara Conroy
“You have presented the material in a way that is both rigorous and accessible. You have provided students with a very solid foundation and have pushed them into new territories. I was amazed at how comfortable they seemed with weight sharing and physical contact at the end of the workshop. Your stable connection to your own presence and your commitment to the teachings enabled students to encounter and overcome their own discomforts. Thanks again.'

Ce que les gens disent..

« Ce fut une leçon fabuleuse cet après-midi. Des instructions bien rythmées et significatives qui m'ont appris quelque chose sur ma relation avec la terre, le sens du mouvement et le fait de bien jouer avec les autres. Merci.» Claire Szabo
